South Carolina has been hammered with cold weather over the course of the last week and weather alerts are projecting more is to come. We've been releasing updates on the current conditions of the trail as it recuperates from the ice that the winter storm brought this past weekend. With ice still covering the trail, our trail coordinators are still finding some areas in the Upstate as hazardous and impassible.
Weather alerts are predicting that we may be hit with round two this weekend, with 2-3 inches of snow set for this Saturday.
While the trail remains open, it is a priority to update you on the conditions of the trail. It is currently at a dangerous state and will only continue to be treacherous as the weather drops and snow falls. We ask that you please be aware of the conditions of your area and if you decide to go out, use extreme caution while hiking.
Thank you,
Palmetto Trail
