The Wateree Passage crosses miles of river swamp, with great fishing from seven of its many bridges. Five of these bridges also offer good spots to launch a canoe or kayak. The trail also features a suspension bridge near mile marker 7. If hills are more to your liking, miles 1 through 3 hug the bluffs where wealthy planters built summer homes to escape heat and mosquitos . Molly’s Bluff is the tallest point along the trail, which traverses Poinsett State Park and portions of Manchester State Forest. There is a bike repair installation near the beginning of the Passage behind the ranger’s station at Poinsett State Park. The Passage also includes historical markers describing Civil War and railroad history.
