8:00 AM to 10:30 AM
Join us for a spring morning of birding along the stunning Blue Wall Passage of the Palmetto
Trail in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Spring is one of the most exciting times of year to be outside with binoculars in hand. Migratory
birds are returning from their wintering grounds, filling the forest canopy with vibrant colors and
song. During this guided walk, we’ll search for dazzling spring migrants passing through the
mountains, while also spotting the hardy year-round residents that call this region home.
The Blue Wall Passage offers breathtaking mountain views, rich hardwood forests, and diverse
habitat, making it an ideal location to observe a wide variety of species. Whether you are new to
birding or an experienced birder, this walk is designed to be welcoming, educational, and fun.
Leaders will help with bird identification by sight and sound and share insights about migration,
habitat, and conservation.
This event is in partnership with the South Carolina State Museum’s “Wings of Wonder
Exhibition”. We recommend that all interested bird watchers take the opportunity to visit this
wonderful exhibit in Columbia that will be featured from March th – August 30th , 2026.
