September 18         Kayaking Landsford Canal on the Catawba

This is a beautiful paddle that is suited for all ages and experience levels.  We will be putting in at Landsford Canal State Park and paddling upstream for several miles.  The current is calm and the paddle is easy.  We’ll find a place for lunch, and then head back to the park.  There is a good chance of seeing eagles on their nests upstream.  We will only be several hundred yards from the whitewater of the Catawba in the calm and easy water of a canal that was hand-dug in the 1820’s by slave labor.

Space is limited so sign up now!

Fees:

Everyone will be required to pay a $2 admission fee to enter the park.

Kayak Rental: $35/person (includes $10 outing fee)

Bring your own gear: $10 outing fee

Directions:

I-77 Northbound: Take exit 65 to Highway 9, turn right, and travel 2 miles to Hwy 223. Turn left on Hwy 223 and travel 9 miles to Hwy 21. At Hwy 21 turn left and travel 2 miles to the State Park sign. Turn right and the park entrance will be on the left.
